39 years since the passing of the Kurdish poet Cigerxwin
ARK News… Today, the 22nd of October 2023, marks the thirty-sixth anniversary of the passing of the great Kurdish poet Cigerxwin, who is considered one of the most famous Kurdish poets.
A summary of the life of the poet Cigerxwin:
His real name is Sheikhmous Hassan Ali. He was born in 1903 in the village of Hasare, affiliated with the city of Batman in northern Kurdistan. Shortly after his birth, his family immigrated to Syrian Kurdistan and settled in the city of Amouda.
Cigerxwin lived a miserable and poor life. He lost his father and mother and moved between the villages and towns of Syrian Kurdistan, and moved to the Kurdistan Region and Iranian Kurdistan.
Cigerxwin had a passion for science since childhood. He wrote poetry when he was young and his fame quickly spread among the people. Cigerxwin is considered one of the first to lead the Kurdish national renaissance at all cultural, social and political levels in Syria.
During his life, he was subjected to persecution and imprisonment many times. Cigerxwin wrote in many fields and wrote more than 37 books, the most important of which was about the history of Kurdistan in two parts, 8 collections of poetry, translations, and a dictionary.
Cigerxwin died in Stockholm on October 22, 1984. His body was transported to the city of Qamishlo and buried in the courtyard of his house in a solemn procession in the presence of a large crowd.
