Masrour Barzani: Congratulations on the anniversary of the victory of the will of our proud people
ARK News… On the sixth anniversary of the referendum on Kurdistan’s independence, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, today, September 25, 2023, said on his official page on the X platform, “Congratulations on the anniversary of the victory of the will of our proud people.”
On June 7, 2017, the political leadership in the Kurdistan Region took the decision to hold the referendum, in an expanded meeting held by President Masoud Barzani with the participation of government officials, representatives of political parties and forces, and officials from the Independent High Commission for Elections and Referendums in the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting of the Kurdistan forces set September 25, 2017, as the date for holding the referendum, to be held in the Kurdistan Region and Kurdistan regions outside the region’s administration.
About 3,305,925 people participated in the vote, with more than 92% of participants voting “yes.”
