Mullah Hassan Hoshyar was born in the village of Surdi in Turkish Kurdistan in 1907. While performing military service in 1924, he participated in the political activities of the Erzurum organization in the Farqin region under the supervision of General Ihsan Nuri Pasha, and in the revolution of Sheikh Saeed Piran in 1925, he was one of the fighters on the “Diyar” front. He was sentenced to death, but due to his young age, the sentence was commuted to 15 years in prison. After his release from prison in 1928 with a general amnesty, he participated in the Agri Revolution led by General Ihsan Nori Pasha. In 1933, he was forced to flee to Syrian Kurdistan.

He wrote in Kurdish newspapers and magazines such as “Hawar, Ronahi, and Roja No.” In 1956, he founded a Kurdish cultural association with a number of Kurdish intellectuals. In 1966, he published “Akahi” magazine.
