ARK News… A leader within the armed factions in Afrin, Syrian Kurdistan, seizes tens of thousands of olive trees owned by the Kurds.

A source from the village told ARK, on Saturday, September 9, 2023, that the so-called Moataz Raslan, the commander of the Al Nukhba army, seized 35,000 olive trees belonging to the Kurds in the village of Omar Simo in the Shara town of Afrin city.

The source confirmed that this statistic is limited to one of the villages under its control, and the number is higher in other villages.

Kurdish farmers and peasants in Afrin and its environs and villages pay 15 percent of the oil and olive crop as a tax imposed on the armed factions, in addition to the crop that is subject to theft, seizure, and exorbitant expenses.

The farmers confirm that the properties of displaced Kurds are seized by the armed factions, and they prevent their remaining relatives in Afrin from reaping the crop.

A few days ago, Al-Amshat gunmen began counting trees belonging to the displaced in a number of villages they control in order to seize them and benefit from their harvest.
