ARK News… UNICEF Regional Director of Media for the Middle East and North Africa Ammar Ammar, on Tuesday, May 3, 2023, confirmed that many hospitals in Sudan have become out of service, stressing that children are the most affected by the clashes.

He added that UNICEF Arabic cadres are working in safe areas in Sudan, noting that the offices and warehouses of some humanitarian organizations have been looted.

He stressed that Sudan needs a long humanitarian truce to ensure the delivery of aid, warning that the humanitarian situation has become catastrophic.

For his part, Jens Larke, spokesman for the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs at the United Nations, announced at a press conference in Geneva, on Tuesday, that the battles that have taken place since mid-April have left more than 330,000 displaced persons and 100,000 refugees.

He pointed out that humanitarian agencies were already suffering from a lack of funds to finance their humanitarian operations in Sudan even before the outbreak of the fighting.
