Another assault on a Kurdish elderly person by the gunmen of "Al-Faylaq Al Sham in Afrin
ARK News... As part of the ongoing violations against the Kurdish people in Afrin and its environs and villages, an armed group, on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, severely beat an elderly Kurd in a village in Rajo town in the countryside of Afrin, in Syrian Kurdistan.
A source from Afrin told ARK that Abu Aker's group in Faylaq al-Sham assaulted the elderly Kurdish Khalil Mamiq (85 years old) in the village of Gawanda in the seven villages of Midans in Rajo town, while he was trying to prevent an Arab displaced person from grazing his livestock among the olive field.
The source confirmed that it broke his foot and head, and as a result, he was taken to the area’s hospitals and is now bedridden.
The Human Rights Organization in Afrin and the Syria Monitoring Network for Human Rights confirmed the death of an elderly Kurd in Afrin, Syrian Kurdistan, as a result of the torture and beating he was subjected to by the Faylaq Al Sham faction.
The two organizations confirmed in a separate report that ARK read, "The elderly Yahya Hamo Shukri (65 years old), from the village of Iska-Sherawa, lost his life in the military hospital in Afrin, on Sunday 16/04/2023, due to severe beatings, by members of the Faylaq al-Sham militia, on 29/03/2023.
The Organization confirmed that the Kurdish elderly person suffered severe physical bruises while they robbed him of a sum of $300 that his son, Shukri, sent him from Lebanon to make ends meet, and they also stole two cell phones.
The family of the deceased and his sons appealed to all human rights and humanitarian organizations to present their case to international public opinion and concerned international committees with human rights, calling for "the thieves' perpetrators and all those involved in the crimes in Afrin to be prosecuted."
