ARK News… After the Supply Directorate of the PYD raised the price of meat in the cities and towns of Syrian Kurdistan, its purchasing power decreased.

The price of one kilogram of chicken ranges between 15,500 and 16,500, while the price of one kilogram of lamb or veal ranges between 50 and 60 thousand Syrian pounds.

One of the owners of butcher shops in the city of Derik confirmed to Rebaz News that despite the high prices of veal and sheep meat, they are suffering from a loss, as he attributed it to three reasons: "The huge increase in livestock prices, the increase in the price of meat, which reduced the purchasing movement and thus the decrease in the slaughter rate."

One of the livestock breeders said that the rainfall this year and the availability of hay and fodder affected the rise in animal prices. Another explained that "illegal trade by some parties, in cooperation with merchants, led to an increase in the price of animals," while some saw the decrease in the exchange rate of the Syrian pound against the dollar as the main reason for this.
