ARK News... The US national security spokesman at the White House, John Kirby, confirmed that the US strikes on Syria aim to protect American personnel in the country, where ISIS and Iranian-backed armed groups still pose a threat.

In an interview with CNN, Kirby said the United States does not seek conflict with Iran, adding that "Tehran should not be involved in supporting attacks on American facilities."

The statements of the US national security spokesman come after air strikes launched by the United States on targets linked to Iran in northeastern Syria, after the death of an American contractor and the wounding of five US military personnel as a result of an Iranian air strike that targeted a coalition base near Hasakah on Thursday noon.

US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, said that at the direction of President Biden, the US Central Forces authorized the launch of accurate air strikes in eastern Syria against facilities used by groups affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

In addition to the response to the attack, the US air strikes come in response to a series of recent attacks against the coalition forces in Syria, by groups affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
