Massive and angry demonstrations in Afrin break the barrier of fear in the face of injustice and tyranny
ARK News... In a heinous racist incident, the gunmen of the Jaysh Al Islam (Eastern Army) fired live bullets at Kurdish civilians from the Peshmerg family in the city of Jenderes in the countryside of Afrin in Syrian Kurdistan, on the night of the National Day of Newroz, March 20, 2023.
This came after Newroz fires were lit in front of their house in Jenderes, and live bullets were fired by the gunmen of the Jaysh Al Islam (Eastern Army), who committed a massacre in Jenderes, in which four innocent Kurdish civilians were martyred.
The martyrs are:
- Farahuddin Othman, 43 years old
-Ismail Othman, 38 years old
-Muhammad Ismail Othman, 18 years old
- Muhammad Othman 42
Because of the massacre, it turned into massive and angry demonstrations demanding the removal of all armed factions from the cities, villages, and towns in Afrin, and the handover of their administration to the indigenous Kurdish population.
On the second day, tens of thousands of residents of the Afrin region in Syrian Kurdistan, March 21, 2023, which coincides with the Kurdish New Year and the National Day of Newroz, mourned the bodies of the martyrs.
The mourners chanted at the funeral, which turned into massive protest demonstrations against the armed factions, calling for the removal of all armed men and an end to the bloodshed and the violations against the Kurds there.
The mourners raised banners, reading: Five years of oppression, injustice, and demographic change, no to killing Kurdish civilians, the killers of the Jaysh Al Islam (Eastern Army() must be held accountable and expelled from Afrin, we demand an end to the crimes and finding radical solutions for the region.
They also called on the Peshmerga forces and President Masoud Barzani to rid them of injustice and persecution.
During the burial ceremony of the martyrs, Ahmed Hassan, representative of the Kurdish National Council in Syria within the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, delivered a fiery speech during the demonstrations condemning the martyrdom of four Kurdish civilians at the hands of the gunmen of the Jaysh Al Islam (Eastern Army).
In his speech, Ahmed Hassan, the representative of the Kurdish National Council in Syria, called for the prosecution and fair trial of the murderers and perpetrators and the removal of all armed factions in Afrin, its cities, and villages.
After the heinous crime, the headquarters of Barzani, the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region, the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Presidency of the Parliament of Kurdistan, the Kurdish National Council in Syria, and Kurdish and Arab political parties and parties issued statements of denunciation and denunciation calling for justice and accountability for the perpetrators and killers and bringing them to justice and trial.
