ARK News... The Kurdish politician Siddiq Sharnakhi on Sunday, March 5, 2023, said that the Kurdish National Council in Syria must reopen its offices in the city of Afrin, in Syrian Kurdistan, and stand by the Kurdish people there.

The Kurdish politician, Siddiq Sharnakhi, said during his participation in the ARK newsletter that the devastating earthquake that hit the region increased the pain and suffering of the Kurds, amid neglect by international relief organizations and the international community.

Sharnakhi thanked the Kurdistan Region and the Barzani Charity Foundation for providing relief to the cities of Afrin and Jenderes, appreciating at the same time the decision taken by the Kurdish National Council to open its offices in Afrin.

He continued by saying that the Kurdish National Council in Syria must expedite the implementation of the decision to reopen its offices in Afrin and activate the role of local councils in order to provide support to the people.

Regarding the work of other organizations, he said that the Qatari and Palestinian organizations have other goals that are involved in the field of demographic change, such as building camps on the lands belonging to the Kurds, so it is necessary to stand up to any project of demographic change in the region and work to limit and thwart it.

At the end of his speech, he said that the international parties are based on politicizing the provision of aid and humanitarian aid, and the concerned international parties, such as civil society and the United Nations, are completely remiss in providing relief to those affected by the devastating earthquake that struck the region on February 6.
