Afrin Local Council: The Midanky Dam is safe

Under the guidance of the Afrin Local Council and the participation of the Office of Engineers in Afrin and the Free Syrian Engineers Association, a specialized engineering committee inspected the Midanky Dam in Shara town in the city of Afrin in Syrian Kurdistan, to uncover the dam after it was exposed to an earthquake.
The local council in Afrin said: "The body of the dam was taken from the depth and the surface of the dam, where cracks appeared after the recent earthquake that hit the area. The immediate result is the integrity of the dam in-depth, the walls are free of any leakage and the gates are intact from cracks."
The team, which included engineers who had supervised the implementation of the dam, confirmed that it was designed to withstand earthquakes of up to 8 degrees, according to the local council.
