37 anniversary of the departure of the Kurdish artist, Ayaz Youssef
ARK News… Friday, 20-1- 2023, marked the thirty-seventh anniversary of the departure of the artist Ayaz Youssef, who was in the prime of his youth and giving at the age of 25.
A glimpse of his life and art:
He was born in Zakho in 1961. He loved singing and used to sit with the great singers who used to sing at ranches, houses, and evening parties.
He studied in Zakho schools until he completed his last stage, and at that time he sang at school parties and sang for Kurdish radio in Baghdad, and he was raised on the love of Kurdish art and folklore.
The first releases of the artist, Ayaz Youssef, were the song "Min Det Jarah Oli". He has three albums, and the number of his recorded songs reached 65 songs.
His sweet voice spread all over Kurdistan.
Ayaz was severely emaciated after the disease became severe, as he hid his pain from his family and loved ones. After seeing the doctor, he learned that he was sick with pulmonary tuberculosis. He was transferred to Mosul Hospital. On December 26, 1986, he passed away at the age of 25.
His body was transported to his city Zakho, which he loved and sang about. Based on his will, his fans and loved ones toured him - carried on his shoulders - in the streets of Zakho to the sound of his famous song "Welatê Min Bexçê Gulan" meaning "My homeland is the rose garden." He was buried in Zakho cemetery.
