Masrour Barzani: We reached initial understandings to solve the problems with Baghdad

ARK News... The Kurdistan Region Council of Ministers, on Sunday, held its meeting No. (100), chaired by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, and discussed a number of files included in its agenda.

In the first paragraph of the agenda, the Council of Ministers discussed the results of the recent visit by the high-ranking delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government, headed by the Prime Minister, on January 11, 2023, to Baghdad and the meeting with the Federal Prime Minister and the negotiating delegation of the federal government.

The Prime Minister indicated that they felt, during the meeting, that there was a positive atmosphere and a good opportunity to solve problems with the federal government on the basis of the constitution and within the framework of the political agreement of the forces that formed the government, and the ministerial platform that was voted on by the Iraqi parliament.

The Prime Minister confirmed that many related files were discussed, including the draft federal budget law for the year 2023, the draft federal oil and gas law, the rights of the Peshmerga and their constitutional entitlements, the implementation of constitutional Article 140, the normalization of conditions in the Kurdish regions outside the administration of the region, and the implementation of the Sinjar Agreement, and expelling militias and illegal armed forces, and many other files, pointing to reaching initial understandings to solve problems.

The second paragraph of the meeting was devoted to presenting the report of the Ministry of Natural Resources on the provision of white oil and the latest developments regarding the agreement between the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Federal Ministry of Oil during the visit of the high government delegation headed by the Prime Minister to Baghdad on January 11, on the implementation of the agreement to send white oil to the region, which was presented by the acting Minister of Natural Resources, Kamal Muhammad.

In the third paragraph of the agenda, the Coordinator of International Recommendations, Dindar Zebari, presented a report on the latest steps and progress in the implementation mechanism of the Kurdistan Region's plan for human rights for the first year.

The Prime Minister praised the coordinator of the international recommendations for preparing the report, and also affirmed the Kurdistan Regional Government's commitment to respecting and protecting human rights, and to consolidating and strengthening democratic principles and peaceful coexistence among the various components of the Kurdistan Region, as stipulated in the work program of the ninth ministerial formation.

After discussions and deliberations, the Council of Ministers unanimously approved the submitted report.
