The University of Duhok launches a "solar farm" to supply thousands of citizens with clean energy

ARK News… The University of Duhok witnessed the inauguration of a "solar farm" with a production capacity of 2 megawatts of electricity.

"The presence of renewable energy is expanding with the opening of a 2-megawatt solar farm at the University of Duhok," the US ambassador wrote on her Twitter account.

It added this "was provided in part by the efforts of the USAID project worth $2 million in the Kurdistan Region.

It indicated that the station will provide clean energy to more than 300,000 people and aims to reduce 1,800 tons of carbon emissions annually.

Clean energy is generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, water, rain, heat from the Earth's core, and others.

The Kurdistan Region needs 4,500 megawatts of electricity during the summer months, but it currently produces 3,400 megawatts, according to data from the Ministry of Electricity.
