Erbil... An invitation to participate in the commemoration of the departure of artist Muhammad Ali Shaker
ARK News... The Sama Foundation for Art and Culture invited a group (Seri Kaniye Youth) to participate in the commemoration of the second anniversary of the death of the artist, Muhammad Ali Shaker, in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.
The invitation stated that the second annual revival ceremony for the late artist will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 6:30 pm, in Sama Hall, Capitol Hotel.
The artist, Muhammad Ali Shaker, was born in 1946 and comes from the city of Sere Kaniye in Syrian Kurdistan. He studied English at the University of Aleppo and graduated from it in 1981.
He began writing poetry and composing melodies in 1968. He has about 265 songs from his words and melodies, including 170 poems sung by his brother, the artist Mahmoud Aziz Shaker. His poems were sung by many artists, including Muhammad Sheikho, Mustafa Khalid, Zubair Saleh, Hussein Saleh, Shahribana Kurdi and Khoshnav Tello, and others.
He has two collections of poetry, he composes poetry on all issues and topics related to the Kurdish issue and events.
In addition to poetry and melody, he painted many paintings expressing Kurdish folklore and heritage.
Syrian Kurdistan lost the Kurdish artist, Muhammad Ali Shaker, after a rich history and his enrichment of the Kurdish school, as he passed away on December 24, 2020, at the age of 74, after he was infected with the Coronavirus in a hospital in the city of Qamishlo, and he was buried in the city of Qamishlo, far from his hometown.
