Details... Two were injured as a result of an attack on those celebrating the Kurdistan Flag Day
ARK News... On Kurdistan Flag Day, which falls on Saturday, December 17, 2022, of each year, the Kurdish National Council in Syria revived Kurdistan Flag Day by holding celebrations and various activities.
As usual, the Democratic Union Party (PYD) showed its hatred and poured out its anger on those celebrating Kurdistan Flag Day. On Saturday, one of the towns of Syrian Kurdistan witnessed an attack by a member of the PYD administration on the celebrations.
A source from the town of Girke Lage, which is affiliated with the city of Derik in Syrian Kurdistan, said in exclusive statements to ARK that a member of the PYD administration attacked with stones those celebrating the Kurdistan Flag Day in Girke Lage.
He added that the attack with stones resulted in the injury of two of the celebrants, and he also directed insults and immoral words at the celebrant's.
ARK obtained a picture of the assailant but was unable to obtain his identity and name.
This is not the first time that PYD officials have assaulted those celebrating Kurdistan Flag Day. In 2015, Girê Legi witnessed the raising of the largest Kurdish flag by the Kurdish National Council, but the activity was met with assault, prevention, and the dispersal of the assembly by force, as witnessed in other areas in the cities and towns of Kurdistan. Syria, similar violations, such as preventing the raising of the Kurdish flag during the burial ceremonies of the late artist Buffy Salah in Afrin 2016, as well as refusing to place the Kurdish flag during the press conference of members of the Kurdistan Region Parliament in Afrin 2018.
