A meeting with President Nechirvan Barzani, the US envoy to Syria, Nicholas Granger
ARK News... The President of the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, received Mr. Nicholas Granger, the US envoy to Syria, and an accompanying delegation.
In a meeting which was attended by the US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, the latest developments in Syria and Iraq and the threats of ISIS were discussed, the relations between the Kurdish parties and the components in Syria, and the conditions of the camps, especially the Al-Hol camp.
The two sides stressed the importance of continuing joint cooperation to confront terrorism and the dangers of ISIS, which is still a real threat to Syria, Iraq, and the region, and the two sides saw the need for European countries and the region to cooperate to return their citizens from Al-Hol camp in Syria to their country.
In this context, President Nechirvan Barzani reiterated that the eradication of terrorism is not only done by force of arms, but that eliminating terrorism must come through education and deepening the culture of tolerance, acceptance of others and coexistence, and confronting extremist and violent ideology.
The need for dialogue and unity between the Kurdish parties and other Syrian components, the situation in the region in general and other issues of common concern, formed another focus of the meeting.
