Racism pushes the name of an outstanding Kurdish student to be removed from the list of top students
The Iraqi Ministry of Education announced the names of the 173 outstanding students in the preparatory stage, with a score of 99.86 percent, but the name of a Kurdish student who got the same percentage was removed from the list.
The student whose name was removed from the list is Birez Muhammad Manaf, who studied at the Kurdistan Preparatory School in Kirkuk and ranked first at the level of Kurdish study inside the city, with a rate of 99.86 percent.
The director of the Kurdistan School in Kirkuk Sarbast Abdel Wahid told Kurdistan 24 that the name of the student, Birez Muhammad, was deliberately removed from the list, because he is Kurdish, adding that they are following up on the matter with the responsible authorities to solve the problem in question.
He added that the Kurdish language is being systematically fought in Kirkuk, noting that they are very resentful of this irresponsible behavior.
Sarbast Abdel Wahid thanked the Minister of Education in the Kurdistan Region, Alan Hama Saeed, for his continuous communication with them in order to solve the problems of the Kurdish schools in Kirkuk, saying: If the Minister of Education of the Kurdistan Region was here, he would have been able to solve this problem within a few moments.
According to reports, the local government in Kirkuk, especially after the events of the sixteenth of October, follows a policy of Arabization in a systematic manner, where the Kurdish presence in the province is ignored, whether by marginalizing the Kurdish language or excluding Kurdish military and civilian employees.
