ARK News... A source from Afrin city in Syrian Kurdistan, on Tuesday, May 23, 2022, said that hundreds of Kurdish families have recently returned to the Afrin region, while the campaign is still continuing.

The source, who declined to be named for security reasons, told ARK: That 750 displaced Kurdish families in al-Shahba and displaced people in Aleppo, as well as refugees in Turkey and Lebanon, recently returned to the city of Afrin and its towns and villages.

He affirmed: Since April, more than 192 families have returned to the area, and there are numbers of families from the Shiye town, especially after the decision to expel the leader in Al-Amshat, Muhammad Jassim Abu Amsha.

The source indicated that: The returning families are facing difficulties in restoring their homes. In this regard, the Human Rights Organization in Afrin, on May 21, 2022, said that a leader in Al-Amshat in Shiye town refuses to hand over the homes of the Kurdish civilians who have recently returned to their hometown (about 50 homes).

It added: Despite their recent return to the town, the leader in Al Amshat disregards the decisions of the Committee for the Response of Rights and Grievances, which is composed of leaders of the Free Syrian National Army and some politicians affiliated with the Syrian Coalition.

Bashar Amin, a member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria, said in statements to ARK: "We support the return to Afrin and all areas, but the joint committee between the Kurdish National Council in Syria and the Syrian Coalition for Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces must be activated to facilitate the return and remove obstacles to return and put an end to the violations that occur.

Despite the ongoing violations in the Afrin region, Kurdish families are returning to the region. Hundreds of Kurdish families have recently returned, and the return is still continuing, according to ARK sources.
