Sadr Rejects Compromise with Pro-Iran Coordination Framework
The leader of the Sadrist Movement, Muqtada Al-Sadr, has promised to make no compromise with the pro-Iran groups of the Coordination Framework over the formation of the new government of Iraq.
The statement was published on Sadr’s official Twitter account on Wednesday after the Iraqi Parliament once again failed to convene two-thirds of the MPs to elect the new president of Iraq and proceed with the formation of the government.
It was the third failed attempt by the legislature since the beginning of a political deadlock.
Sadr said a political deadlock is better in favor of Iraq than making deal with the Coordination Framework which could lead the country to its demise.
“I will not take you back to the disastrous era of the past,” Sadr promised to the people of Iraq, stressing that he will not allow the country to be under the influence of others.
