Erbil and Sulaimaniyah receive more than 100,000 tourists in Newroz Shander Garden in Erbil
ARK News... The Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism in the Kurdistan Region announced, on Monday, the influx of thousands of tourists from central and southern Iraq to the cities of the region.
The ministry said in a statement that more than 100,000 people have visited the tourist destinations in Erbil and Sulaimaniyah since the middle of this month until now.
It added that more than 52 thousand tourists visited the tourist facilities in Erbil, while more than 50 thousand visited the tourist attractions in Sulaimaniyah.
She indicated that she had recently launched a wide campaign throughout Kurdistan to prepare the tourist areas in preparation for the reception of the Newroz celebrations in nature.
The ministry explained that the campaign will continue until the end of the celebrations, and expressed its hope that the tourists will contribute to preserving the environment and the beautiful nature of Kurdistan.
The Director-General of Tourism in Erbil, Ismail Minchin, said that 11,164 tourists from different countries visited the capital of the region.
The tourism sector in the Kurdistan Region in general recovered after the rate of infections and deaths from the “Corona” virus decreased, according to the authorities.
The tourism sector has been badly affected over the past two years due to the outbreak of "Corona" and the preventive measures taken by the authorities. All restrictions were lifted this year.
