ARK News… The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Plasschaert, discussed the results of the parliamentary elections that took place in Iraq a few days ago.

During the meeting, they discussed the progress of the voting process in the early Iraqi parliament elections and their results, the situation in Iraq in general, and expectations for the future of the political process in the country.

The two sides expressed the hope that the election results would lead to the formation of a government that would respond to the demands, aspirations, and expectations of all components of Iraq and provide security, stability, and services for Iraqis. The two sides agreed on the need to resolve challenges and observations on the election results by legal means.

For his part, Nechirvan Barzani thanked Mrs. Plasschaert and the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) and blessed their remarkable role in monitoring the voting process and their assistance and support to Iraq.
