ARK News… The official spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Government, Jotyar Adel, on Tuesday, said that there is high-level coordination between the Ministry of Peshmerga and the Iraqi Ministry of Defense.

Adel told reporters: "We hope that this coordination will yield good results and be in the interest of both parties."

The official spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Government confirmed that the goal of coordination between the Iraqi forces and the Peshmerga is to confront ISIS and to consolidate security and stability and protect the people in various Iraqi regions.

Both the Ministries of Defense and the Peshmerga agreed to form two joint brigades between the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga forces, to deploy in Kirkuk and other Kurdish areas outside the administration of the Kurdistan Region or the so-called (disputed areas).

This is the first time that the Peshmerga has returned to the (disputed areas) after the events of October 16, 2017, with the aim of confronting the remnants of ISIS, which have returned to activity in those areas and are launching attacks on the Iraqi forces of various kinds.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Peshmerga in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Sarbast Lazgin, had confirmed on September 18 that there is good coordination between Erbil and Baghdad in the security and military fields.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Peshmerga was speaking at a press conference held in the American capital, Washington, at the conclusion of a visit by a delegation from the ministry to the United States of America.

He also indicated that the steps regarding the formation of joint coordination centers in Khanaqin, Kirkuk, Makhmour, and West Tigris, as well as the formation of two joint brigades of the Peshmerga and the army, have gone through good stages, pointing to the existence of good coordination in the security and military fields between the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Governments.
