ARK News… Nechirvan Barzani, the President of Kurdistan Region, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates, on Saturday met in London.

The two officials discussed a range of issues related to regional stability, topped by the ways to further strengthen the relations between Erbil and Abu Dhabi.

“The political developments in Iraq, the upcoming elections, and the political process in the country were highlighted,” the readout of the meeting, released by the Kurdistan Region Presidency, said.

“Strengthening bilateral relations and friendship in all areas, the importance of collective efforts to maintain stability and resolving differences and tensions in the region were reaffirmed,” he added.

The meeting came a day after Barzani and Al Nahyan separately visited 10 Downing Street where they were received by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

“A pleasure to see my friend, HH Mohammed bin Zayed while in London. Kurdistan Region-UAE relations, upcoming Iraqi elections, stability of our region and other issues of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting,” the Kurdistan president said.

UK Prime Minister’s Office wrote in a press release after Barzani’s visit that the two leaders had agreed on the strength of the UK’s relationship, and its deep historic ties, with the Kurdish people and the whole of Iraq. They decided to further deepen that relationship, particularly in areas such as trade and investment.
