President Barzani: The people of Kurdistan did not surrender to the enemies who settled in the dustbins of history
ARK News… President Barzani, Masoud Barzani, said on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, in a message he addressed on the thirty-third anniversary of the Anfal operations and the artillery and chemical bombardment in the Badinan region: The people of Kurdistan did not surrender and succumb to the enemies who settled in the dustbins of history, calling for the compensation of the victims. The message stated:
On 25th August 1988, the notorious army of the Baath regime launched another round of the Anfal campaign against the Kurds in the Badinan area of Kurdistan. The campaign continued until September 6 the same year and killed over 1,500 civilians while tens of thousands were displaced or forcibly relocated.
President Masoud Barzani honored the memory of those who perished during the genocidal attacks and reminded that the Iraqi government is responsible for the compensation of the victims and their families.
“Before the eyes of the world, the enemies of our nation used the most advanced weapons and the most heinous policies to erase the Kurdish nation,” Barzani wrote in his statement, emphasizing that the Kurds never give up their aspiration for freedom.
