A statement from Suleiman Oso regarding the statements of the leaders of the QSD and PYD against the Kurdistan Region

ARK News… The Kurdish National Council in Syria has constantly affirmed its position rejecting the Kurdish-Kurdish fighting, as it does not serve the future and aspirations of our people and comes in the interest of the enemies of the Kurds, with our keenness to define our position transparently from any party that seeks to escalate tension and incite this fighting.

We in the Kurdish National Council expressed, through a previous statement, our rejection of the repeated incidents in the Kurdistan region of Iraq between Peshmerga forces and gunmen of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), and we condemned the attack and ambush they set up for Peshmerga fighters within the territory of the Kurdistan Region, which led to the martyrdom of many Peshmerga fighters and the injury of others.

Today, we once again call on the PKK to respect the laws of the region and its legislative and executive institutions. All Kurdish parties and forces must respect the privacy of each part and not provide pretexts and conditions for regional states to interfere in parts of Kurdistan militarily and politically.

The threats launched by both the Democratic Union Party officials and leaders of the Syrian Democratic Forces against the Kurdistan region of Iraq recently are considered a dangerous shift in the situation, especially since the QSD considers itself a “Syrian national” military force and there are factions and fighters in its ranks alongside the Kurds, Arabic, Syriac, Assyrian, and others.

In addition, these statements and threats against the Kurdistan region and the Peshmerga forces refute the specificity of the QSD as a local force in Syria, an ally of the international coalition forces against ISIS led by the United States of America, since the Kurdistan region and the Peshmerga forces are a major part of the international coalition and cannot be separated from the Republic of Iraq and its sovereignty.

The foregoing is a dangerous development in the political and military situation and requires the United States to express a position on these threats and statements that may push the region towards new conflicts with ominous consequences.
