ARK News… The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) revealed an agreement with the Eid Al-Khayriya Association to support more than four thousand Syrian refugee families in Lebanon, at a time when the refugees in Lebanon are suffering from extremely difficult humanitarian conditions amid the lack of assistance provided to them.

The UNHCR said, "It has signed an agreement with the Eid Al-Khariya Association to provide Syrian refugees in Lebanon with urgent multi-purpose cash assistance through the “Zakat” contribution provided by the Eid Al-Khariya, with a total value of one million Qatari riyals."

The UNHCR statement stated that "under this contribution, more than four thousand Syrian refugee families (about 20,000 individuals) from the most vulnerable groups will be provided with cash assistance," noting that the cash assistance will enable the targeted families to secure their basic and urgent needs, such as food and rent expenses, Children's medical care, clothing, and tuition.

The statement pointed out that "the funding received by the UNHCR in Lebanon did not exceed 19 percent of the total support required to implement its programs in Lebanon, and therefore Eid Al-Khariya contribution comes at the right time to support the UNHCR's ability to respond to the increasing needs."
