Kurdistan PM Briefs Nation on Achievements of His Cabinet in Past 2 Years
Kurdistan Region Prime Minister on Saturday briefed the nation on the achievements made by his administration since it was established in a highly challenging time two years ago.
Building a stronger Kurdistan through fundamental reforms and offering more services to the people were the main promises made by the 9th cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) when it was established on 10th July 2019.
PM Barzani said in a video published on Saturday that the cabinet has made remarkable progress in implementing its agenda despite multiple crises, including regular budget cuts from Baghdad, dropping oil prices, the worldwide pandemic, and its economic repercussions.

Over the past two years, financial and administrative corruption has been noticeably contained while public revenues remarkably increased through reorganization of taxes and constant supervision over the public sector.
Among the promises made by the 9th cabinet was the diversification of the Kurdistan Region’s revenue sources, so it will not solely depend on oil revenues. In line with this plan, many factories, grain silos, and other strategic projects have been established to help domestic and foreign investors contribute easier and greater to the economy of the region.
Meanwhile, the 9th cabinet has revived good relations with the federal government in Baghdad and the neighboring countries, addressing many outstanding disputes while tirelessly working to resolve those remaining through dialogue and commitment.
Another sector that PM Barzani and his team promised to improve was road and transportation infrastructure. Within the past two years alone, strategic road projects across the Kurdistan Region were implemented while the foundation stone for many more has been laid.
However, maybe above all is the success of the KRG in combating the pandemic despite the limited resources it has. While its neighbors suffered massive death tolls, the Kurdistan Region has performed outstandingly to limit the spread and keep the infection and death toll low through the measures it has introduced.
Another major step by the government was the digitalization of the public sector. PM Barzani said his administration has been successful in providing better services through the digitalized sectors where bureaucracy is limited.
Over the past two years, the KRG has submitted multiple reports to the Kurdistan Region Parliament on the progress it has made in the reform plan, and it has made it clear that the reform agenda will continue despite numerous challenges.
