Minister of Peshmerga Shorash Ismail received the Dutch Consul General in Erbil, Hans Akerboom, and the Military Attaché at the Consulate, Colonel Jan Tin Hof.

During the meeting, which was attended by senior officers in the Ministry of Peshmerga, the two sides discussed the recent security developments and the dangers of the return of ISIS and its increasing movements in the Kurdish areas outside the administration of the Kurdistan Region, or what is called the “disputed.”

The Dutch consul confirmed his country's desire to engage more in all fields in the Kurdistan Region, and said: "The Netherlands will continue to support and develop the Peshmerga forces."

The Minister of Peshmerga stressed that "the reform process in the ministry is continuing, and we attach great importance to the role of the Dutch military advisors, who continue to work on the continuation and development of the reform process in the Peshmerga forces since its inception."
