Former Iraqi MP: Six out of 100 IS families go missing during repatriation from Syria
At least six out of those 100 Islamic State (IS) families who were repatriated from Syria's al-Hol camp to Iraq, have gone missing mysteriously, a former Iraqi lawmaker said.
Viyan Dakhil, a former MP in the Iraqi Parliament, pointed out in a statement on Twitter that 100 IS families were repatriated from Syria's al-Hol camp while 94 of them arrived in Iraq's Mosul.
They were repatriated in 10 buses to al-Jada ‘a camp in the south of Mosul.
"Can the government explain to us the reasons and circumstances of how six of these families fled at the Iraqi-Syrian border in broad daylight, with all the security forces accompanying them?" she argued.
Iraq has plans to repatriate hundreds of other Islamic State families from the Syrian camp in accordance with a deal between the Iraqi government and the Syrian Kurdish forces guarding the camp.
