Barzani Receives British Delegation to Discuss Regional Developments
President Masoud Barzani, on Wednesday, received a senior British delegation in Erbil where they discussed bilateral ties and regional developments.
Led by Marshall Sammy Sampson, UK Defense Senior Advisor to the Middle East, the British delegation reiterated its commitment to helping Erbil and Baghdad to address their remaining disputes and facing the current challenges.
The sides also discussed the current political situation in Iraq, the forthcoming snap elections, and the security concerns in the country.
On the war against the Islamic State (IS), the Kurdish leader reminded that the terrorist group has been defeated militarily, and it should be defeated ideologically now.
Barzani also reaffirmed that addressing the root causes which previously led to the birth of IS, is necessary to defeat terrorism in the region.
