ARK News… The General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council issued a statement about the regime’s presidential elections, which reads the following:

At a time when our Syrian people, with all their national and religious components, are suffering from the ravages of killing, destruction, displacement, and poverty, which were caused - and are still - by the regime's pursuit of the military option in suppressing the revolution of freedom and dignity for the Syrian people, which was launched to achieve equality and democracy for the Syrians, and in addition to the general suffering of the Syrians, this regime pursued a racist policy against our Kurdish people from demographic change, Arabization, and depriving our people of their most basic national rights, and because of all these exceptional policies, our Kurdish people joined in the peaceful revolution in their regions.

The Syrians are waiting, like the one who holds embers with his fist for the implementation of the decisions of the Geneva 1 conference and all international decisions to resolve the Syrian crisis, especially Resolution 2254, to put an end to violence and achieve peace.

In a blatant challenge to the will of the Syrians, the international will and all its decisions to solve the Syrian crisis, and in these difficult and tragic living conditions that the Syrian people are going through, the dictatorial regime in Damascus is preparing for the presidential elections in the absence of a safe and neutral environment, and the absence of more than two-thirds of the sons and daughters of our Syrian people from the country, between internal and external displaced.

Sisters, brothers...

We in the Kurdish National Council in Syria, as one of the components of the opposition and the Syrian revolution, appeal to the international community and all the elements of the good forces, locally, regionally, and internationally, to stand by the Syrians and consider these elections as illegitimate and disruptive to the international settlement process for the Syrian issue, and we urge them to put pressure on the regime, to comply with the international will, and seeking to achieve an equitable political solution that ends the tragedy of the Syrians and to achieve freedom and dignity for its people.

Glory for the martyrs of the Syrian revolution
Freedom for our Syrian people.
