Barzani encourages Kurdish journalists to contribute to promoting peaceful coexistence
ARK News… Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani hoped that journalists and media organizations in Kurdistan would play an active role in further promoting the spirit of peaceful coexistence among people.
The president of the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) issued a statement on Thursday to mark the 123rd anniversary of the publication of the first Kurdish newspaper, designated as the Kurdish Journalism Day.
“Journalists and media activists are responsible to deliver news and raise the awareness of the society, which is, indeed, a sacred mission. They play a significant role in directing the public opinion and developing the society,” reads a statement by Barzani.
The prominent leader emphasized that Kurdish journalists should introduce “the legitimate Kurdish cause to the world and defend the legitimate rights of our people”.
Barzani concluded his statement by encouraging journalists to avoid media tensions and remain committed to the professional principles of journalism.
