The Kirkuk-Garmiyan leadership council of the Kurdistan Democratic Party on Sunday issued a statement regarding the recent statements made by the illegal acting governor of Kirkuk, Rakan Saeed, in which he had claimed to find bodies in the party’s headquarters in the city, stressing that Rakan is whether he wants it or not, that the Democratic Party will return to Kirkuk.

"The illegal governor of Kirkuk imposed on the city, Rakan Saeed, claimed in an interview that a number of bodies had been found inside the headquarters of the Kirkuk-Garmiyan Command Council of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, 4 days after the betrayal of October 16, 2017," the statement read.

The statement added, "These accusations are fabricated, baseless and far from the truth, and that the Kurdistan Democratic Party did not accept the military reality imposed on the city, and this governor imposed on it is illegal and unconstitutional and has never dealt with him, and for this reason, such accusations are fabricated".

Indicating that “the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party is political party headquarters and they were practicing political activity, and after the betrayal of October 16, the party no longer exists in Kirkuk and our headquarters there have been seized. On the contrary, the occupied headquarters turned for a period of time into a place of detention and torture of cadres, supporters, and members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

In its statement, the Council affirmed that "In the event of repeating such irresponsible statements, which we strongly reject, legal measures must be taken against the aforementioned, and we also demand that a thorough investigation be opened into the matter with the participation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and under the auspices of the United Nations, and we know well that the fabrication and directing of these accusations aim to achieve obstructing the return of the Democratic Party to Kirkuk.

"We announce here, whether Rakan wants or not, to make sure that the Democratic Party will return to Kirkuk and this illegal administration will not remain as it is now," the statement added
