ARK News… The UN envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, confirmed that the talks that he will hold in Damascus will focus on implementing UN Resolution 2254 on the ceasefire in Syria and reaching a political settlement.

Pederson indicated, upon his arrival in Damascus, on Sunday, that his discussions in Damascus will focus on Resolution 2254, pointing out that there are many issues that he hopes to talk about, on top of which is the difficult situation in which the Syrian people live.

Before his departure to Damascus, Pedersen had met with a number of Russian officials in Moscow, apparently to urge them to put more pressure on the Assad regime to set a date for the sixth round of negotiations of the Constitutional Committee, provided that the regime’s delegation enters the discussion of constitutional principles, which was rejected by this delegation, Who tries to divert the committee from its goal by talking about "national principles", during 5 rounds of the committee's work.
