Accepting the regime's representation in UNESCO bodies is an insult to millions of victims and an offense to the organization's values
The National Coalition of Revolutionary Forces considered in a statement that accepting the representation of one of the institutions affiliated with the regime - informally and supervised by Asma al-Assad - in a body affiliated to UNESCO at the United Nations is rejected and condemned, and represents an affront to millions of victims of Syria and an offense to the values of the international organization.
The statement pointed out that Asma al-Assad, the supervisor of this institution that was left to join the international assessment body, supported her criminal husband, Bashar al-Assad, in his war against the Syrian people and was a part of it. It is also covered by economic sanctions because it supports the regime’s war machine, and it is involved in operations. Feeding the regime financially, and also implicated in human rights violations.
The coalition asserted that this regime is involved in complete contradiction to the UNESCO Courier by destroying antiquities and cultural and human heritage, destroying thousands of schools, killing and displacing millions of children and teachers, pursuing them with barrels and bombs, arresting and killing under torture.
The Syrian National Coalition demanded that all legal measures be taken to avoid this moral fall by stopping this step and blocking the way for members of the criminal regime to play any role related to arbitration, choosing or evaluating the requests of the countries of the world related to their human and cultural heritage.
He pointed out that the matter is not limited to the need to withhold the seat of arbitration, but rather it is necessary to delegitimize the regime in the international organization and freeze Syria’s seat in the United Nations until it is handed over to the true representatives of the Syrian people.
The "Syrian Trust for Development" organization run by "Asma al-Assad", known as "Our Lady of Hell", announced that it had won the rank of "the international arbitrator", in the elections of the International Evaluation Body, affiliated to UNESCO of the United Nations.
The organization said that this came during the fifteenth session of the safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage at UNESCO held in Paris, where the "secretariat" won, for a period of two years 2020-2022, within an international evaluation body composed of twelve members, as described.
The organization supervised by "Asma Al-Assad" described her victory as an advanced step for the representation of Syria in a major international forum, and its presence is devoted to protecting human heritage in general and Syrian heritage in particular.
