Accusations of a Danish company of violating the sanctions imposed on the Syrian regime
ARK News… The Financial Crimes Commission in Copenhagen accused a Danish company of supplying fuel to the Russian military aircraft deployed in Syria, in violation of European Union sanctions.
The Danish Attorney General's statement said that the value of financial transfers made between 2015 and 2017 amounted to more than $ 100 million.
The statement added that the Danish company sold a total of about 172 thousand tons of kerosene to Russian companies that, in turn, brought them to Syria.
The statement did not name the company in question, but it was reported that it was the shipping company "Dan Pankering", which conducted commercial dealings with the Russian company "Maritim", which is responsible for supplying Russian aircraft in Syria with fuel.
The Danish Public Prosecution Office, in charge of serious economic and international crimes cases, said that the fuel was transported by intermediaries to the Mediterranean and then to the Syrian port of Banyas.
Since December 2011, the European Union has imposed sanctions on Syria, which are subject to annual review. The sanctions include an oil embargo and a freeze on the assets of the Syrian Central Bank in the European Union.
