ARK News… On Sunday, October 11, 2020, was the 28th anniversary of the martyrdom of the Peshmerga Ali Omar Khalil at the hands of the Iraqi Ba'athist regime.
His struggle and biography
The martyr Ali Omar Khalil, born on 1/1/1972, in the village of Rihaniyah in the city of Derik in Syrian Kurdistan. In 1978 he entered school, forced to drop out after years to help his father with work. Then he started working as a farmer.
He headed to the Kurdistan Region and joined the Kurdistan Democratic Party, as he believed in the issue of his people and loved his land and homeland. During the uprising of the Kurds in the Kurdistan Region in 1991, he joined the 9th Brigade within the Peshmerga forces in the city of Zakho, to defend the Kurdish people, who were suffering under the conditions of the Iraqi Ba'athist regime at the time.
He participated in many battles, the most important of which was the liberation of Smile district, where he entered with his fellow Peshmerga to Rabia and then to the Mosul fronts and were able to liberate the Kurdistan Region from the chauvinist regime.
With the start of the Iraqi Baathist regime targeting Kurdish areas in the Kurdistan Region and the displacement of Kurdish citizens to the mountains, the martyr Ali Omar Khalil and hundreds of his Peshmerga comrades did not abandon their land, and they defended until the martyrdom.
His younger brother, Saeed Omar, joined the ranks of the Peshmerga, and he is now a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria, and the official of the National Relations Office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria.
The martyr Ali Omar Khalil, from a national family and father of seven children. On October 11, 1992, the militant was martyred in the city of Zakho in the Kurdistan Region, and his body was buried in the presence of a large crowd in the Semil district of the city of Duhok.
