A plan to put Afrin region under the International protection
ARK News: The Secretary General of the Parliamentary Atlantic Group Walid Phares, today 16.20.2020 posted on his personal page of Facebook stated that during Winter 2019, he proposed a plan for a security zone between Turkey and the Kurds in Afrin of Aleppo countryside along the border to avoid populations exodus.
Phares added saying: “This winter 2020 I am advancing a plan for the NW of Syria to stop the current exodus."
He added that it is about a two connected UN zones: Idlib & Afrin, acting as a buffer between Turkey and Assad-Iran.
Phares made clear that the fight over Idlib can be resolved by pulling out all fighting forces from Idlib and deploying UN forces under chapter 7. Similarly all forces would pull out from Afrin region, and the UN will take over the latter as well. Both areas would be connected under a unified UN command to separate Turks from Assad and Iran forces.
He also said that all refugees from the two zones, Idlib and Afrin would return to their homes.
