Turkey reports “neutralization” of 55 Syrian military

Feb 13 2020

ARK News.. The Turkish army claims to have “neutralized” a further 55 Syrian soldiers in Idlib. This was announced by the country’s Ministry of Defense.

“According to the latest information from various sources in Idlib, it has become known that 55 elements of the regime have been neutralized today,” said the Turkish Defense Ministry’s Twitter message yesterday.

On Monday, the Turkish Ministry of Defense reported the deaths of five Turkish soldiers in an artillery attack by the Syrian army in the Taftanaz area of Idlib, with five others reportedly injured.

As a counterattack, the Turkish air force fired at 115 targets of the regime army and “neutralized” 101 Syrian soldiers.

On February 11, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the “neutralization” of a further 51 Syrian soldiers in Idlib.

Last week, seven Turkish soldiers and one civilian were killed in an attack by the Syrian regime army.

Idlib is home to one of the four so-called de-escalation zones, which were established in 2017 through the mediation of Russia, Iran and Turkey to enable civilians to get out of the war zones. Unlike the other three de-escalation zones, Idlib is still not controlled by the regime in Damascus.

In addition to millions of civilians, tens of thousands of militias are suspected there. The largest groups are the National Liberation Front supported by Turkey and al-Nusra Front militias.
