The PYD officially announces its withdrawal from Sari Kaniye and Gire Spi

ARK News: the PYD administration announced on Tuesday, 27 August 2019, the implementation of the first phase of the Tripartite Agreement on border security, and confirmed its commitment to the ongoing understandings in this regard, in a statement.

Zaidan al-Assi, joint head of the Defense Office of the PYD, made a statement on the tripartite understandings between SDF, the United States, and Turkey regarding the security mechanism "border protection" that took place on 7 August.

"In the framework of the tripartite understandings regarding border security with Turkey and within the first phase of the understandings mentioned, the first practical steps were started on 24th of this month in a Sari Kaniye area by removing some earth mounds and withdrawing a group of YPG and heavy weapons to new points and handing over the border points to local forces”, Assi said.

" The same steps also were implemented on the 26th of this month in the area of Gire Spi", he added.

Assi stressed at the conclusion of his speech that the measures they have implemented confirm their serious commitment to the current understandings and their keenness to reach a solution to all issues through peaceful dialogue with neighboring countries.
