Israeli Airstrikes and Airborne Operation Reported Near al-Kiswa, Damascus Countryside
ARK News.. Sources told Syria TV that the Israeli army carried out an airborne landing operation in the al-Kiswa area of Damascus countryside on Wednesday, following airstrikes targeting a military site in the same vicinity.
According to the sources, the operation was preceded by intensive reconnaissance drone activity, while Israeli warplanes and UAVs continued to patrol and prevent access to the site until late Wednesday evening.
This marked the second Israeli attack within 24 hours on the same military installation in Jabal al-Mana, near al-Kiswa.
The sources added that Tuesday’s airstrikes (August 26) targeted a site containing surveillance and listening devices that Syrian army units had attempted to dismantle, resulting in casualties among government forces.
SANA, Syria’s state news agency, cited a government source saying that Syrian army personnel came under Israeli fire while handling monitoring and eavesdropping equipment discovered during a field tour in Jabal al-Mana, south of Damascus. The strikes caused both deaths and injuries, in addition to the destruction of military vehicles.
Later Wednesday evening, Israeli aircraft launched multiple raids, followed by an airborne landing, the details of which remain unclear.
A Syrian Ministry of Defense official told AFP that several soldiers were killed in an Israeli drone strike targeting a military building belonging to the 44th Division in al-Kiswa.
Military sources also informed Syria TV that units of the Syrian army had been conducting armored weapons maneuvers at a site in Jabal al-Mana near the village of Deir Ali shortly before the Israeli strikes.
In a separate statement, Syria’s Foreign Ministry condemned Wednesday’s Israeli assault on the Syrian army position near al-Kiswa, describing it as an act of aggression that left several soldiers dead.
Meanwhile, other reports indicated that Israeli helicopters landed in Sweida during the same wave of operations.

232 Iraqi Families Leave al-Hol Camp for Iraq
ARK News.. On Thursday, August 28, 2025, a total of 232 Iraqi families—comprising 850 individuals—departed al-Hol camp in Syria’s Hasaka countryside, heading toward Iraqi territory. The transfer was carried out in coordination between the Iraqi government and the Autonomous Administration.
According to camp management, this marks the 29th group to leave al-Hol since the start of coordination between both sides, and the 12th convoy this year alone.
Camp authorities reported that over 20,000 Iraqi refugees have so far been repatriated with Baghdad’s cooperation. Still, around 6,000 Iraqis remain in al-Hol.
At the end of July, 233 Iraqi families—over 800 individuals—left the camp, marking the 11th such transfer since the beginning of 2025.
Established in 1991 to shelter Iraqi refugees fleeing the Gulf War, al-Hol was reopened in 2003 following the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. In 2013, the camp fell under the control of the so-called Islamic State (ISIS), before being retaken in 2015 by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) with support from the U.S.-led international coalition.
Today, the camp is administered by the SDF and hosts around 50,000 residents, including Syrians, Iraqis, and more than 10,000 foreign nationals—families of ISIS fighters from about 60 different countries.
The Iraqi government, in coordination with international partners, continues efforts to close this chapter by returning its citizens, citing the security, social, and humanitarian challenges posed by al-Hol in the post-ISIS era.
