Nechirvan Barzani: An advanced state does not evade its mistakes, but discusses them and finds solutions

ARK News..The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, delivered an important speech on Thursday, Sep. 17, 2026, at the graduation ceremony of the seventh class of students at the American University of Kurdistan in Duhok, highlighting the role of youth in the country’s future and stressing that an advanced state does not evade its mistakes, but rather discusses them and finds solutions to them.

During the graduation ceremony, alongside congratulating the graduates, their families, the university staff, and Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Nechirvan Barzani emphasized the importance of entering a new phase of work and the active participation of young people in building their homeland.

The President of the Kurdistan Region said: “An advanced state sees its mistakes, discusses them, and works to address them. Constructive criticism does not weaken Kurdistan; rather, it leads to greater progress for the country.”

Nechirvan Barzani also said: “True and sincere loyalty means respecting the blood of our martyrs, valuing the struggle and sacrifices of the heroic Peshmerga forces, as well as protecting and consolidating the gains achieved through those sacrifices.”

Addressing the graduates, he said: “Your responsibility is to see the work and aspects that we were unable to see, and to develop those areas and fields that we were unable to develop to the sufficient and required extent.”

The President of the Kurdistan Region also addressed the growing role of artificial intelligence, saying: “Technology and artificial intelligence are developing at an extremely rapid pace and are accomplishing tasks that were previously unimaginable. Use technology, but do not entrust matters related to purely human duties and decisions to it. No matter how advanced technology becomes, there will always remain certain constant values that never change, such as loyalty, integrity, and service to society.”

At the conclusion of his speech, Nechirvan Barzani urged the younger generation to take the lead in society, declaring: “Be leaders. Leadership is not merely a rank or position; rather, it is embodied in a living sense of responsibility toward your land and your people.”
