Statement by the Kurdish National Council in Syria
ARK News: The General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council held its regular meeting in the city of Qamishlo city on the first of February 2019 and after a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs the agenda of the meeting, which included a review of the political situation, was reviewed through the presentation of representatives of the Council's activities in the Office of External Relations, Coalition, and Negotiating Body and the visit of the delegation of the presidency of the Council of Kurdistan of Iraq and his meeting with President Masoud Barzani, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, the Kurdistan Islamic Union, and the representative of the European Union in Hawler.
After extensive discussion by the members of the Secretariat of the overall agenda items, the meeting concluded:
The General Secretariat affirmed the correctness of the Council's vision regarding the current political developments, it expressed her satisfaction with the recent meetings and the Secretariat also valued the position of President Masoud Barzani and his interest in the situation in Kurdistan and support Syria and supported by the Kurdish National Council and the rights of the Kurdish people in Syria ,the meeting also stressed the need to communicate with the international and regional parties concerned with the Syrian affairs in order to activate the political solution of the status quo and to develop a democratic federal system in which the Syrian people, in general, enjoy their full democratic rights and the Kurdish people in Kurdistan, Syria in particular its national and legitimate rights in accordance with international covenants and conventions and constitutional guarantees.
As for projects that are offered to the Kurdish areas and East Euphrates in general Where the features of these projects and the safe area have yet to be clarified and in this regard, the Council will seek in the international and regional circles to adopt initiatives aimed at protecting our Kurdish people and all other components, and to make its areas safe and secure against the dangers that beset it, and the meeting also considered that international care should be required for any project that is offered to our regions to ensure its security under the common administration administratively and militarily, and the Kurdish National Council has a prominent role in it along with the rest of the Syrian components and that Roj Peshmerga has an active role in maintaining the security of our people and its regions, in addition to reassuring neighbouring countries by establishing good relations based on mutual respect.
The General Secretariat also found that there were not suitable climates yet to achieve unity of the Kurdish position, which includes the opening of offices and delivery to their owners without exception and freedom of political and public action and the release of detainees and the closure of this file and the forcible return of the deportees, as well as the cessation of arbitrary practices against citizens and the return of their property, and must stop the discourse of betrayal by the PYD Media and some of its leaders towards the Kurdish National Council and its Parties, and that this indicates that the PYD is not serious in dealing with the unity of the Kurdish row and this confirms the lack of credibility of its calls to the Council and its Parties, and this is enough to increase the division and hinder the start of any dialogue unless there is a suitable ground for that former atmosphere and the presence of an international guarantor.
The General Secretariat also stressed the development of the Council's performance and its activation through meetings with all the community components to build a common position to ward off threats to the region and the maintenance of civil peace and strengthening and also stressed the development of the Council's Media and that commensurate with its political and public position.
