ARK News.. An Emirati newspaper has revealed a plan to deport Syrian military officers who fled their country, citing concerns they could be exploited by militias or regional powers.

According to Erem News, quoting an unnamed "Iraqi security official," there are “quiet efforts” underway to relocate hundreds of fleeing Syrian officers to other countries. The move comes amid growing fears that these individuals could be recruited by armed militias or even by Iran.

The report states that the officers, who fled to Iraq following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime, were disarmed and placed in temporary camps in desert areas near the border. Authorities are reportedly concerned that these officers could become tools in the hands of regional actors.

The source also indicated that discussions are currently ongoing about deporting the officers either back to Syria or to a third country. This is described as a "preventive measure" to avoid their involvement in agendas that could destabilize Iraq or the broader region.

Security reports have also suggested that some of these officers have already received training in camps run by pro-Iranian factions, particularly in the Anbar desert. Others have reportedly been relocated to sensitive areas such as Jurf al-Sakhir.
