In Preparation for Their Dissolution: Al-Shar’i Meets with Syrian National Coalition and Negotiation Committee
ARK News.. Damascus, Syria – Syrian President Ahmad l-Shar’i met with a delegation from the Syrian Negotiation Committee and the Syrian National Coalition at the People's Palace in Damascus to receive the institutional files of both bodies, paving the way for their official dissolution.
According to a statement from the Presidency, al-Shar’i received Badr Jamous, Head of the Negotiation Committee, and Hadi al-Bahra, President of the National Coalition, accompanied by a delegation representing both institutions. The delegation congratulated al-Shar’i on assuming the presidency and emphasized the importance of Syrian unity—among the people, leadership, and institutions—to confront the challenges facing the country at this pivotal moment in Syria's history.
The statement added, “In line with the Declaration of Victory of the Syrian Revolution, which calls for the dissolution of all institutions formed during the revolution and their integration into state institutions, the delegations handed over the files related to the Negotiation Committee, the National Coalition, and their affiliated bodies to the Syrian state to continue serving the interests of the Syrian people and building the nation under the leadership of the President.”
Al-Shar’i praised the struggle of those who served in these institutions against the former regime, commending their steadfast national positions on the international political stage and their role in exposing the regime’s practices and crimes. He acknowledged their contributions to the resilience of the Syrian people over the past fourteen years, culminating in the victory of the Syrian Revolution and the military defeat of the former regime through the courage and sacrifices of the revolutionaries under the leadership of the Military Operations Command.
The statement also highlighted al-Shar’i's commitment to leveraging the political, administrative, and technical expertise of members from the Negotiation Committee and the National Coalition by integrating them into the state's new institutional framework to better serve the Syrian people both domestically and internationally.
The delegation affirmed its support for al-Shar’i's leadership and pledged to work hand in hand with him to overcome the challenges of this phase, reunify the country, and achieve security and stability. They also expressed their commitment to completing the formation of the Syrian National Army on a unified, national basis by integrating all military factions and centralizing arms under state control.
The delegation stressed that the successful implementation of Al-Shar'i's roadmap requires the formation of an inclusive transitional government that represents all Syrians, drafting a new constitution to be approved by the people, and ultimately conducting free and fair elections at all levels.
