Derik… A statement by ENKS regarding the attack on Kurdistan Flag Day
ARK News… The General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council in Syria published a statement about the attack on those are celebrating Kurdistan Flag Day in Derik city in Syrian Kurdistan.
The Kurdish National Council in Syria said in a statement: “Today, December 17, an armed group affiliated with the Democratic Union Party (PYD) attacked those are celebrating Kurdistan Flag Day in Derik city, this national occasion that the Kurdish National Council in Syria commemorates every year.”
The Kurdish National Council said: "This group broke the loudspeaker and threw stones at the revelers, causing some to be injured. Bullets were also fired to intimidate them and spread panic among them."
The Kurdish National Council confirmed in its statement: “We, in the Kurdish National Council, strongly condemn these intimidating practices against Kurdish citizens and the Council by PYD gunmen, especially against those are celebrating the Kurdistan Flag Day with Kurdish national symbolism.”
The National Council concluded its statement by saying: “We call on human rights organizations and international bodies concerned with the region, especially the United States of America, to prevent these actions that deepen differences, increase tension, and harm the Kurdish issue in Syria, at this delicate stage that Syria and the Kurdish people are going through.”
