The participation of the "Moscow platform" in the meeting comes after a break of more than three years from the meetings of the body and added in a statement posted on Twitter by the head of the platform, Qadri Jamil, "The representatives of the Moscow platform are heading to the Syrian opposition in the negotiating body, the comrades: Alaa Arafat, Youssef Salman, Sami Betanjana, Muhannad Daliqan, to attend the next meeting of the Commission on 2-3-4 days in Geneva, after the platform was suspended from any activity related to the Commission for a period of more than three and a half years.

The statement indicated that the platform’s interruption from the commission’s meetings came “as a result of several pending contentious issues, especially since an arbitrary and contrary decision was taken against it to revoke the membership of one of its representatives in the commission and its representative in the mini-constitutional committee, Comrade Muhannad Daliqan, after the platform’s call to transfer the work of the constitutional committee to Damascus with security. The necessary guarantees for that, and it is the position that we still see as correct and we still call for it.

The Syrian Negotiation Commission had said in a tweet on its official account that it would discuss, during the meeting, raising the level of coordination and joint action under the umbrella of the Negotiation Commission to reactivate the political process, and "the negotiation commission's assertion that the political solution in Syria is in accordance with Security Council Resolution No. 2254."
