ARK News... Among the tragedies that asylum seekers face, fleeing the Syrian war, twenty immigrants and asylum seekers met an unknown fate after their boat sank off the Greek coast.
In the details of the incident, a sea boat off the coast of the Sea of Greece on the island of Mykonos hit a rock, which led to the boat capsizing and sinking on Friday, May 26, 2023.
A close relative of one of the victims told ARK that the boat was carrying twenty immigrants who left Turkey towards Greece, in an attempt to reach European countries, most of them are Syrians, Kurds, and Arabs.
He continued by saying: A few days after the accident, the bodies of some of the victims were found, including an Afghani and a Syrian, in addition to the body of Sherin Kalo, who hails from the village of Kurzele Sherawa in the countryside of Afrin, in Syrian Kurdistan.
He explained that the fate of 16 others is unknown and missing, and two young Kurdish women also came from Afrin, Juliana Nadim Najjar, 18, from the village of Kimar, and Zaynab Sabri Fares, from the village of Ma’mila of Rajo town.
