Four years on the massacre of Kobani (night of treachery)

Jun 26 2019

ARK News: The day on 25/5/2019 marks the passage of four years of the massacre of Kobani (night of treachery) and still its wound has been bleeding to date for not detecting the criminals who participated in the slaughter and killing of Kurdish civilians in Kobani.

Where terrorists of Da’esh began in the first hours of the morning of June 25, 2015, and their number were 100 terrorists who came from Sireen town, south of Kobani, and they were able to infiltrate despite the presence of multiple security checkpoints belonging to the PYD’s administration.

The operation first began with the massacre of the village of Barkh Batan, south of Kobani, where the terrorists attacked it. They killed 23 civilians, including children, women and old men who were sleeping in their beds, after the massacre of the village of Barkh Batan they went to Kobani city, and managed to cross the barriers of so-called Asayish and enter the depth of the city, and the attacks came at a time when the displaced from Kobani were returning to their stricken city.

There were conflicting reports of the number of victims which estimated at least 600 civilians were killed between a martyr and a wounded person in the center of the town of Kobani and the surrounding villages.

In this context, the website of the Kurdish National Council had a meeting with (A. Sh.) who lost her husband in the massacre and refused to reveal her name, where she said:

In the early morning, as we were eating the Suhoor, we heard the sound of gunfire and suddenly we heard the sound of a car and my husband and I hurried outside to look into it, and the person who was sitting in the car asked my husband Muhammad about the crossing. He answered him and showed him the crossing. He was speaking Kurdish and dressed the YPG uniform, then he shot my husband and started shooting at us like rain. I had to fall to the ground and left us after believing that I had died.

After passing Da’esh the security barriers of the PYD and their arrival in Kobani city, their guns began shooting randomly at the houses, specifically on the main street which is close to the station (Mustafa Darwish), and the residents of Kobani were able to kill a number of elements after the clashes that took place between them and the residents and among the people who participated in the resistance (Kh. T.), who told us what happened:

After we heard the firing of heavy bullets, my brother rushed to the street to see what was happening and suddenly he was shot on the head, which led to his martyrdom, and my mother went so rest assured of him, she also suffered the same fate of death, I rushed to carry my weapon and went to the surface where I was able to kill them and they were two elements, one woman wearing the clothes of the forces of the YPJ.

We also had a meeting with a member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria Mustafa Juma and in response to a reporter's question about the reasons that prevent the PYD from conducting an investigation of the massacre and accounting those involved with them, where he confirmed:

There is clear complicity between some of the leaders of the PYD and the groups that carried out the massacre on the night of treachery. This party can be penetrated at any time because of its affiliations and because of its permanent subordination to the agendas of the Kurdish neighboring countries on the one hand and because of its uniqueness and confiscation of the general Kurdish decision. The residents of Kobani know how these groups were accompanied by Kurdish elements known at the checkpoints of the Kurdish military forces. Certainly, The PYD even in the future, will not reveal how the massacre took place.

Juma continued saying:
That there are leading elements of non-Syrian Kurdish fled after the massacre and disappeared from existence. Therefore, the massacre came as a violent and retaliatory response - after the Peshmerga came out - from the vigor of the Kobani people who defeated Da’esh and its regional project against the Kurdish aspirations.
